Knowledge Alchemy Under Mechanical Wings
‘Knowledge Alchemy Under Mechanical Wings’ is a Blender 3D animation reflecting the reconstruction of individual identity and meaning under the postmodern predicament.
The animation opens with a black stream of data rotating into the frame, gradually revealing a crumbling post-apocalyptic scene. On top of the stacked ruins, a half-mechanical, half-flesh owl stands, symbolising an individual struggling for survival in the midst of the rupture. Its mechanical part is stained and rusted, and its physical part is broken, reflecting the split and fragmentation of subjectivity in the postmodern context.
The scene around the owl is full of images of decay and decay: the broken mirror reflects the fragmented reality, the melted clock symbolises the disruption and stagnation of time, and the human limbs are a metaphor for the disintegration of subjectivity. However, in the midst of these ruins, there is a shimmering light, the grass and leaves are swaying, and a flame is dancing around the owl, signalling the hope of new life in the midst of the crisis.
The camera pushes forward, starlight rises from the ground, symbolising the faint light of knowledge shining in the ruins. The confetti swirls around the owl's head, a metaphor for the individual's attempt to reconstruct meaning from the fragments of information. The owl's mechanical eye flashes red, locking onto the fluttering pieces of paper, fusing and sublimating them into a dazzling golden stream of data, lighting up the dark void, a metaphor for the possibility of reconstructing the order of meaning in the broken world through the integration of scattered fragments of knowledge.
Finally, the image fades out and the black digital void engulfs everything again. However, the points of light are flickering tenaciously, signalling that in the endless darkness, there is still hope and the possibility of rebirth.
