Real  or Unreal

"Real or Unreal" explores the liminal space between intangible data and physical manifestation. In an era where abstract financial metrics dictate real-world consequences, this interactive installation visualizes Apple's stock market data from the past six months, transforming cold statistics into organic, flowing orb particles via TouchDesigner.

The installation invites the audience to become active agents within this data landscape. Using a Leap Motion controller, viewers can manipulate the density, color, and direction of the particles in real-time with simple hand gestures, symbolizing the illusion of control within the volatility of the market.

Bridging the digital and the physical, an Arduino-controlled mechanical flower serves as the installation's tangible anchor. Its rhythmic opening and closing respond to the interactive flux, creating a dialogue between the virtual economy and mechanical nature. By materializing the ephemeral nature of stock data, "Real or Unreal" questions the fabric of our perception: is the reality found in the tangible object, or in the invisible forces that drive it?
